The industrial robotics sector in China witnessed a moderation in growth momentum in 2023, with cumulative sales reaching 28.3 million units, a slight increase of 0.4% year-on-year. Notably, the second half of the year saw a relative improvement, with sales totaling 14.9 million units, an increment of nearly 1.5 million units.
The photovoltaic industry emerged as a key driver, while demand from electronics, lithium batteries, and metal products sectors continued to decline. This trend is expected to persist in 2024, with downstream industry demands remaining diversified.
Domestically, Chinese brands have made significant strides, with their market share climbing to 45%, a record high. In particular, domestic manufacturers have gained a stronger foothold in SCARA and ≤20kg 6-axis robots. In terms of robot types, Cobots and ≤20kg 6-axis robots experienced year-on-year growth, while SCARA, >20kg 6-axis, and Delta robots saw a decline.
Remarkably, Chinese-made industrial robots accounted for over 50% of the global market in 2023, a testament to the country’s technological prowess and manufacturing capabilities. This trend is indicative of China’s emergence as a global leader in industrial robotics, poised for further growth and innovation in the coming years.Industrial robot for palletizing and depalletizing
